Join Metropolis Americas’ inaugural event to be held virtually on March 23, 2022.
The day-long conference in collaboration with the World Refugee & Migration Council will be an opportunity to hear from experts and practitioners about the key pillars for an Americas conversation about migration. We will explore challenges of regional governance and migration flow management and discuss some of the root causes of regional migration as well as the impact of COVID19.
Over the past decades, the Metropolis Institute has pursued research and supported policy deliberations on a wide spectrum of issues related to migration, integration and inclusion within its dynamic multidisciplinary networks: Metropolis Canada, Metropolis North America focusing on Canada, the USA and Mexico and, since 2021, Metropolis Francophonie Mondiale.
The study of migration is the study of humanity on the move intertwined into the evolving fabric of our societies. This ever changing reality is now at the forefront of all national and international relations as we have seen during the November 2021 North American Leaders’ Summit. The ‘Tree Amigos’ meeting key deliverables shows the centrality of migration for security and prosperity. The need to establish a solid coordinated “regional response based on the respect of laws and rooted in solidarity with migrants and among states” requires that we expand our own conversation beyond North America to the Americas.
Many countries in the Hemisphere have become 'source, transit and destination' of migrant populations. This results in more countries sharing similar challenges and opportunities if at different scales and with different capacities. The objective of a wider network is also to bring these changes to light and provide a better understanding of the migration continuum.

CONFERENCIA INAUGURAL DE METROPOLIS AMERICAS EN COLABORACIÓN CON EL CONSEJO MUNDIAL PARA LOS REFUGIADOS Y LA MIGRACIÓN
UNIENDO A LAS AMÉRICAS EN LA MIGRACIÓN, LA INTEGRACIÓN Y LA INCLUSIÓN
Asista al evento inaugural de Metropolis Américas, que se celebrará virtualmente el 23 de Marzo de 2022.
La conferencia de un día de duración, en colaboración con el Consejo Mundial para los Refugiados y la Migración, será una oportunidad para escuchar a expertos y profesionales sobre los pilares clave para una conversación de las Américas sobre la migración. Exploraremos los retos de la gobernanza regional y la gestión de los flujos migratorios y discutiremos algunas de las causas fundamentales de la migración regional, así como el impacto de COVID-19.
Durante las últimas décadas, el Instituto Metropolis ha investigado y apoyado las deliberaciones políticas sobre un amplio espectro de temas relacionados con la migración, la integración y la inclusión dentro de sus dinámicas redes multidisciplinares: Metropolis Canadá, Metropolis Norteamérica, centrada en Canadá, Estados Unidos y México, y, desde 2021, Metropolis Francophonie Mondiale.
El estudio de la migración es el estudio de la humanidad en movimiento entrelazada en el tejido evolutivo de nuestras sociedades. Esta realidad siempre cambiante está ahora en primera línea de todas las relaciones nacionales e internacionales, como hemos visto durante la Cumbre de Líderes de América del Norte de Noviembre de 2021. Los principales resultados de la reunión de "Los Tres Amigos" muestran la importancia de la migración para la seguridad y la prosperidad. La necesidad de establecer una sólida y coordinada "respuesta regional basada en el respeto de las leyes y arraigada en la solidaridad con los migrantes y entre los Estados" requiere que ampliemos nuestra propia conversación más allá de América del Norte hacia las Américas.
Muchos países del hemisferio se han convertido en "origen, tránsito y destino" de poblaciones migrantes. Esto hace que más países compartan retos y oportunidades similares, aunque a diferentes escalas y con diferentes capacidades. El objetivo de una red más amplia es también sacar a la luz estos cambios y proporcionar una mejor comprensión del continuo migratorio.
